Troubleshooting & Tips - FAQ's
- Check & reset your circuit breakers.
- Make sure your filters are clean. (Filters need to be replaced at least bi-monthly)
- Check all electrical switches. (Some units have switches that look like a light switch close to the furnace. The system will not operate if this switch is accidentally turned off.
- If you have a condensation pump and it is full, the system will not operate. Make sure that the pump is plugged in and the GFI is not tripped. Some units will produce condensation in heating and in air conditioning.
- if you see ice forming on any part of your system during the summer, turn your unit off and call for service
Things to check before you call, this may save you a service call.
- Check all breakers: the main panel and by the equipment, your house has two sets of breakers for the air conditioning equipment & for the air handler if you have a heat pump. Main set will be on the main panel & the other set will be next to the equipment.
- See if your filter is extremely dirty.
- make sure your thermostat is set on heat or cool.
- Is condensate drain backed up and has it triggered float switch or has condensate pump stopped working.
